"Star Wars Battlefront 3" was supposed to be the next installment of the Battlefront franchise by Lucas Arts, however, the game was never finished because of complications. "Star Wars Battlefront 3" was able to bring a new type of gameplay towards the franchise which has been struggling within the video game industry.
During the last week of December 2016, a six-minute footage was uploaded by 'Fuzah' through his YouTube channel. The footage contained a fraction of the unfinished game. The video shown was a raw footage of the game which seems to be in its early stages of development. It shows the different type of gameplay which is a combination of land, air, third person and space combat. Given the chance "Star Wars Battlefront 3" would have been a great game based on what was showcased in the video.
"Star Wars Battlefront 3" was never finished due to the financial crisis experienced by Free Radical Designs. The game went through two years of development and was almost finished in 2008 but Lucas Arts refused to spend big in launching the game since the company has just been through a huge transition and could not afford to release such funding.
News of Free Radical Designs shutting down spread through the news in the same year. The British design studio was then bought by Crytek studios which was based in Germany. based on Engadget's article.
The much-anticipated game was then buried and has never seen the light of day. The only evidence of the game's existence is the raw footage showing what could have been a great game.
According to an article by Eurogamer way back in 2012, "Star Wars Battlefront 3" was designed to make players perform seamless transitions from a small-scale gunfight into a space battle by just climbing aboard a spaceship and launch into space. The article also shows how big publishers changed over the years and that Free Radical Designs was one of the casualties of these changes.
