It has long been rumored and now it is finally official! The Music Meister will be the villain in the special musical crossover episode between "The Flash" and "Supergirl" on The CW.
The confirmation comes from the shows' executive producer Greg Berlanti during a panel with the Television Critics Association, TV Line reports. But whoever will play the Music Meister has not yet been picked. Casting, however, is already underway as the musical special is happening this midseason.
Top on the list of potential Music Meister actors is Neil Patrick Harris, who actually voiced the role for the DC animated series "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" several years before. Showruner Andrew Kreisberg confirms that they are big fans of the actor, but it's still unclear if he'll be OK with reprising the role. "We'll see what happens," Kreisberg told the press.
News about the Music Meister being the villain choice for "The Flash" and "Supergirl" musical have been floating since the summer, when the crossover plan was hatched. Joss Whedon was also said to be considered as episode director, according to Collider.
If Harris and Whedon sign on for the special episode, it will not be the first time the two will be working together in a musical TV show. They already did "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" in 2008, which also ran on The CW.
Meanwhile, it is expected that "The Flash" and "Supergirl" musical crossover will feature original songs. Berlanti told Indiewire they have sought clearance for some songs they have in mind to use in the special, but the songs might also include original scores.
The musical crossover could be seen as a fun indulgence at the behest of fans who are aware that most of the cast members of both shows have musical backgrounds and can actually sing and dance. Check out which of the actors from "The Flash" ang "Supergirl" have great voices in the video below.
