'The Crown' Emerges As Big Golden Globes Winner, Claire Foy Confirms Exit From Netflix Best Drama

Netflix's "The Crown" has emerged as the biggest winner in the TV drama category at the Golden Globes awards last Sunday. The show bested other popular series like "Game of Thrones" and "Stranger Things" into winning Best Drama and Best Actress in a Drama Series (Claire Foy) plums.

But Foy confirmed that despite the wins, "The Crown" will still undergo changes after Season 2. As it was hinted before, these changes mean the replacement of the principal actors like her and Matt Smith, who plays Prince Philip, as the show will now delve into a different and much older decade in Queen Elizabeth II's life.

"I'm gone," Foy, who plays the queen in the series, said, according to Express. "They're getting rid of all of us," she added.

But the actress is not quite sorry about losing her job on "The Crown" as she is grateful to have been part of the show. "I'm so honored to have been involved at this stage," she said.

After picking up their awards, Foy and "The Crown" creator Peter Morgan talked with the press backstage at the Golden Globes. Morgan confirmed that they are in the middle of filming the second season, which will involve a backstory on the queen's husband, Prince Philip's childhood, Deadline reports.

"The danger of writing a story of someone with a long life is that the story goes on and on, and on," Morgan said. When "The Crown" was in development, the considerations are that it will involve a decade per season leading up to the current, with the queen in her '90s.

Meanwhile, in accepting her award for Best Actress, Foy thanked Queen Elizabeth II. "She has been at the center of the world for the past 63 years, and I think the world could do with a few more women at the center of it if you ask me," the actress said.
