Just a week ago, hopes were running high on the potential release of Rockstar Games' highly anticipated game sequel, "Red Dead Redemption 2," when an "RDR" sequel poster made rounds on the online realm on Sept. 6, Tuesday. Even though the poster was reported as not legit, many "RDR 2" fans were still hopeful about the possible reveal.
In recent months, there have been incessant speculations about the possibility of a "Red Dead Redemption 2" reveal within this year. In spite of the fact that Rockstar Games has been mum about giving out any details or confirmation, fans remained unwavering in hoping that they will see "RDR 2" in various gaming expos.
Unfortunately, "Red Dead Redemption 2" fans were left disappointed when Rockstar Games did not unveil the game at the E3 2016 event in Los Angeles in June and the 2016 Gamescom Expo in Cologne, Germany in August. Even though many were still hoping for an "RDR 2" reveal at the Sony PlayStation Meeting on Sept. 7, Rockstar Games once again a no-show at the event, leaving some fans dismayed.
To further fuel the rumors on the potential release of "Red Dead Redemption 2," a fan recently made a poster hinting the release of the game on Nov. 18. But PC Advisor reported the poster that was initially found on Imgur was fake. In fact, it was only made to mock up an "RDR" sequel and was sent to Rockstar Games as a present.
Despite the uncertainties surrounding "Red Dead Redemption 2" release, hope is still not lost among diehard "RDR" fans, especially when Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive announced in 2012 that they have plans to release a new game in the franchise. However, the company also stressed that they really don't rush to make game sequels.
With that said, iDigital Times noted that if Rockstar Games will make a "Red Dead Redemption" announcement before the end of the year, previous timelines suggested that it will still take more than a year before the game will be actually released. Based on that observation, the game developer could reportedly miss a 2017 release and the new title will not come until 2018.
Meanwhile, Rockstar Games has yet to confirm whether or not "Red Dead Redemption 2" is indeed under development that's why fans are warned to take all "RDR 2" reports with a grain of salt to avoid more disappointments. Gaming experts even stressed that Rockstar Games prefers an unexpected and low-profile announcements so gaming expos reveal may be unlikely for "RDR 2," as Parent Herald previously noted.
