When it comes to the scariest extraterrestrial movie, nothing is as mindblowing as the "Alien" sequel, especially the "Alien 3" and "Alien Resurrection." The science-fiction action horror franchise is already preparing its fifth installment. "Alien 5" will soon follow the "Alien: Covenant," which will hit the cinemas by August next year.
American actress Sigourney Weaver made the character of Ellen Ripley an epitome of spectacularly bloody disgusting alien survival. In its three sequels, no one has made it as prominent as the 67-year-old actress who reprised majority of the Alien franchise, which was in 1986, 1992 and 1997. In this latest entry, she will lead the movie alongside actor Michael Biehn who will also reprise his role.
There are rumors emerging regarding the development of the "Alien 5," a source claimed that although Weaver remains open to a role in a fifth installment, she didn't like the Earth-set script that was written by Joss Whedon. Aside from that, there has been a figure of disagreements between 20th Century Fox and James Cameron regarding the storyline because of Fox's plans for a crossover.
According to Movie Web, having Neill Blomkamp as the director and writer of "Alien 5," the plot will ignore the events of the much-maligned sequels Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection. This is to make way for the original characters from the first installment. Rumors have it that Michael Biehn's Corporal Hicks, Carrie Henn's Rebecca 'Newt' Jordan, and Lance Henriksen's Bishop will return alongside Weaver.
Blomkamp's script suggests that Ripley's story will continue to an end, unlike the previous "Alien" projects that left her fate hanging in the air. Does this mean that Blomkamp's concept for the "Alien 5" intends to pave a road for further "Alien" installments that feature a different protagonist?
In a spoiler revealed by Screen Rant, Newt will appear in the movie as a grown up. The movie introduces a deadlier alien creature than Xenomorphs, Neomorphs are a smarter breed, which makes eliminating them harder.
No updates as of yet regarding when they will start the production, Blomkamp is currently working on the script with the help of the sequel's original cast.
