'The Last Of Us 2' Release Date, News, Latest Update: Will Naughty Dog Game Bring Ashley Johnson, Troy Baker Cameo Of Ellie, Joel?

"The Last Of Us 2" from Sony and developer Naughty Dog is anticipated to bring in new leads to take over from Ellie (Ashley Johnson) and Joel (Troy Baker). Still, given massive fanbase for Ellie and Joel respectively, could a new storyline for "The Last Of Us 2" merit a cameo by these "TLOU" leads by Neil Druckmann?

As Parent Herald proposes, Neil Druckmann may have indicated on Twitter that "The Last Of Us 2" will not be about Ellie and Joel. Commenting on a fan-made trailer for "The Last Of Us," Neil Druckmann spoke about missing Ellie and Joel.

An earlier report by Cinema Blend cited reminder on a Reddit AMA that Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog expressed that the story of Ellie and Joel had been fully told on "The Last Of Us." In the same interview, Neil Druckmann revealed that the creative director will likely reunite with Ellie and Joel in a different medium other than a video game as "The Last Of Us 2."

Certainly "The Last Of Us" film had been in the pipeline, albeit with Ellie and Joel played by different actors than Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker. IGN reports that initial plans between Sam Raimi and Neil Druckmann for "The Last Of Us" have fallen through. However, Sony definitely has a plan for "The Last Of Us" movie, although it may be different from what Neil Druckmann has in mind.

Luckily "The Last Of Us 2" is definitely still coming and would, more than likely, engage new characters and explore new locations. With a view of protecting "TLOU," "The Last Of Us 2" would realistically avoid a sense of sameness. As such, the best that "TLOU" fans could hope to see Ellie and Joel would be a cameo in a segment that conjuncts with the new storyline.

Official details on "The Last Of Us 2" is anticipated to be released at E3 2017, with firm target on availability still to be announced. Share your thoughts in the comment box below on possible storylines for "The Last Of Us 2."
