"Star Wars: Episode VIII" is one of the most awaited sequels of all time seeing that its predecessor "The Force Awakens" was a huge hit worldwide. It renewed the faith of Star Wars fans on the franchise.
With that in mind, a lot of fans and viewers were eager to know more about the upcoming sequel, although, the production team behind Episode VIII is good at keeping things close to their chest.
Except a few details may have slipped through the cracks and Benicio del Toro's character may have been leaked to the public.
The "Traffic" star was reported to have joined the cast of "Star Wars: Episode VIII" but details about his character were very limited. One rumor sprung up about his role in the film and it indicated that del Toro is going to play a villain in the sequel to "The Force Awakens."
SlashFilm claimed that the star of "Guardians of the Galaxy" will play a shady character but it does not seem clear whether he is going to be a straight-cut villain or just a devious person.
Making Star Wars, a fan site dedicated to digging up information about upcoming Star Wars movies, revealed del Toro's character is said to be more like Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) in a sence that he's not really a nefarious villain. He's just an opportunistic and pragmatic man.
Since del Toro's character is heavily linked to Lando Calrissian's likeness, some news sites speculate that he might also play a space hustler just like Han Solo's friend.
According to Cinema Blend, del Toro's character might even be managing his own space casino, which is close to what Lando did before.
Other actors who have joined the cast of "Star Wars: Episode VIII" have also been rumored to have their character information revealed to the public.
It was reported earlier that the "Jurassic Park" star Laura Dern and "About a Boy" actress Kelly Marie Tran have also joined the cast. Dern is reportedly portraying an aristocratic character who might lock horns with General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) and Tran possibly portraying Finn's (John Boyega) love interest.
