'Lucifer' Season 2 Return, News & Update: Flashback Episode Of First Arrival In LA Set, Get The Details!

"Lucifer" Season 2 is taking a holiday break, but it is scheduled to return in January 2017 on Fox. When it does, a special flashback episode will show the first time Lucifer (Tom Ellis) arrived in LA.

The flashback story of "Lucifer" Season 2 will be part of four standalone episodes that will be aired during a later run of the show. Showrunner Ildy Modrovich confirmed this with TV Line in a recent report.

"We have four episodes at the very end [of Season 2] that are going to be completely standalone," the showrunner said. "We plan to make one of them a flashback to Lucifer first arriving."

Tom Kapinos created the series based on the comic books written Mike Dringenberg and Sam Kieth. These standalone episodes for "Lucifer," however, should set the TV show apart from its original source.

The show received added episode orders in October to complete 22 episodes. It has been doing quite well in the ratings with an average of 8 million viewers in its time slot, Deadline reports.

Meanwhile, when "Lucifer" left off in the fall finale, it was revealed that Chloe (Lauren German) has been put on Earth by God as a miracle baby. She was part of his grand plan, which makes her connection to Luci all the more important.

A promo video for "Lucifer's" return on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017 shows that Chloe might be in danger. All season long, there have been hints on the threat to her life, which makes Lucifer all the more protective of her.

The full extent of Chloe's connection to Lucifer hasn't been defined just yet. But there are speculations she is an angel's partner and she could be the key to his redemption so that he can return to heaven as his original identity Samael, the archangel.

Catch the return of "Lucifer" Season following the holiday break on Jan. 16, 2017. Check out the teaser for the next episode below.
