"Game Of Thrones' Season 7 from HBO based on "A Song Of Ice and Fire" saga by novelist George R.R. Martin has a dark promise about Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and her brother Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). Mother Of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) may be responsible for the fate of the latter. Reflecting revelations by GRRM on what ASOIF Book Six ("The Winds Of Winter") holds, Season 7 from showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will be the darkest run yet.
An interview by Mashable with Lena Headey highlighted the fact that "Game Of Thrones" fans have not seen the worst of Cersei Lannister yet. However, the HBO series will now make the distinction between Cersei Lannister the survivor of previous seasons and the villain version of the Iron Throne Queen of Season 7. Asked if Cersei Lannister could turn good, Lena Headey unequivocally said that such a change will never happen.
In "Game Of Thrones" Season 6, Cersei Lannister lost the last thread that held her to her humanity. With the suicide of Tommen Baratheon (Dean-Charles Chapman) in the Season 6 finale ("The Winds Of Winter), Cersei Lannister's villainy found full liberation. Season 7 finds the Iron Throne occupant free to fully give in to her self-indulgences, and none of it will be good.
Meanwhile, King's Landing will not be without a challenge for long. JOE cites fan sighting of Emilia Clarke skating in Caceres, Spain. This seems to confirm that Daenerys Targaryen and Jaime Lannister will go head-to-head in "Game Of Thrones" Season 7. Although Jaime Lannister is expected to put up a fierce defense, Cersei's twin may put his life on the line in this skirmish with Daenerys.
Nonetheless, any victory that Daenerys Targaryen earns in such an invasion of King's Landing will not be a longstanding win. "Game Of Thrones" Season 7 is expected to be a dark reign by Cersei Lannister and her allies, compounded by dangers posed by the White Walkers. Unsurprising then that George R.R. Martin predicted multiple deaths and a grey journey for heroes when winter comes.
HBO will premiere "Game Of Thrones" Season 7 will premiere in the summer of 2017. Are you sinking your teeth into the new episodes? Or will you wait until Season 8 is ready to balance the darkness with some weary light?
