The holidays always have people gain weight and regret why they weren't watchful of their meal while they were at it. All one needs is a good strategy to still be able to enjoy all the delicious food on the table without having to whine about their weight after.
In an article shared by The Globe and Mail, gaining a pound after the holidays is normal and it is still considered healthy according to studies. But it is still not good that one gains a pound on a yearly basis and not burn it after the holidays are over because that could lead to obesity.
Among the strategies to maintain a healthy weight even after the craziness of the holidays is not follow such strict rules when it comes to eating. When people try to control or repress themselves from enjoying all the good food that is in front of them, the chances are high that they would indulge and lose control as they eat. It is like the more they feed themselves with guilt from possibly eating the holiday meals, the more stressed out they are, which then leads to them eating more.
It is okay to enjoy whatever it is that is on the table. Studies suggest that eating a small portion of your favorite could help in satisfying your craving. One doesn't need to overeat to feel satisfied and one doesn't need to ridiculously control themselves to not overeat. Balance is key.
Meanwhile, for those who not only want to maintain a fit body even after the holidays but actually lose weight, just a fair warning that it could take a lot of work than the usual. Fitness Goals recommends planning the meal in advance and making sure that it is packed with protein with lots of fruits and vegetables. Exercising after eating is also a must. Jogging for just about 5 to 10 minutes a day would already keep the body balanced and would help in burning all the calories you consume.
