Is the cast of "Lucifer" about to welcome a new member? Fans have been wondering if the character of Constantine will be appearing in the series. Will Matt Ryan Join Tom Ellis on the Fox show soon?
Matt Ryan played the titular role in "Constantine" on NBC a few years ago. After the show's cancellation, the actor would still reprise the character in special appearances in DC TV shows like "Arrow" and the "Justice League Dark" animation. To a lot of TV fans, Matt Ryan has epitomized the character quite well that there has always been a clamor for his return to the small screen.
As characters of the DC Comics franchise, Lucifer and Constantine have had encounters in the "Lucifer" comic series. According to Comic Book, one storyline had Lucifer meeting Constantine during the former's stay in the human world. Constantine wondered about why the devil decided to stay outside the gates of Hell, which is the main premise of the TV show as well.
Fans saw this as a potential for "Lucifer" writers to bring Constantine to the show. But showrunner Ildy Modrovich addressed the possibility via TV Line.
"Right now we have no plans for him," Ildy Modrovich told the news outlet. But the showrunner also isn't closing the doors on this completely. "Never say never, right?" he said.
What the Modrovich has hinted, however, is the possibility of introducing Cain on "Lucifer." He is another DC Comics character who appeared in the "Sandman" series, where Lucifer also originated from. But as to when this will happen is still circumspect. "Lucifer" production is currently on hiatus for the holidays, but work will resume in January.
When "Lucifer" returns to air its new episodes beginning Jan. 16, viewers will get some answers to the mystery of Chloe's real identity. In the last episode of the show before the holidays, it was revealed that God had a hand in her conception and birth and she was called a miracle child.
