Amazon's 'Jack Ryan' Adds 3 More Cast Who Will Join John Krasinski And Abbie Cornish

Amazon's production of "Jack Ryan" has enlisted three more actors who are joining leads John Krasinski (Jack Ryan) and Abbie Cornish (Cathy Mueller). Wendell Pierce, Ali Suliman and Dina Shihabi have been picked as supporting cast on the show that's based on the hero of the Tom Clancy's novels.

Deadline reports that Pierce is going to play Jack Ryan's boss, James Greer, a CIA director. Suliman's role is that of "a charismatic Islamic activist" named Suleiman, while Shihabi, a relatively newcomer on television, will play his wife Hani.

Earlier, Cornish was cast as Jack Ryan's leading lady. She is also a doctor who specializes in infectious diseases and an up-and-coming expert in the medical field, TV Line reports.

The choice for John Krasinski to play the role that has been played by Ben Affleck, Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford in the movies was a no-brainer for the people behind "Jack Ryan." They wanted an actor who can be sharp, smart, cerebral and witty, as this version of the character for the small screen will be a funnier one, according to IGN.

"Jack Ryan" has been developed for the streaming platform by Carlton Cuse, whose big TV credits include "Lost" and "Bates Motel." Graham Roland, who worked with Cuse on "The Returned" also gets creator credit for the Tom Clancy show. Amazon talked with the two executive producers in early 2016 about developing the spy drama.

In December, "Jack Ryan" Krasinski confirmed that the production will begin in the middle of February, Parent Herald previously reported. The actor expressed being psyched about the series because it's been pegged as nothing like a typical TV production. Rather, "Jack Ryan" will be treated like a movie separated over 10 episodes.

Amazon has not yet announced the release date of "Jack Ryan." Stay tuned to this site for more updates.
