Another film adaptation is to set sail soon. Joe Carnahan recently posted a photo of the finished script of the live-action adaptation of Naughty Dog's "Uncharted."
Finally, the script is finished and now filming will commence. Joe Carnahan known for directing, producing, and writing some of the best films in Hollywood including "The A Team," "The Grey," and "The Blacklist" wrote on Instagram: "Done and Dusted. Now the REAL work begins. If there's a more monstrously cool action script in Hollywood right now, I wanna read it, 'cuz this thing is a BEAST."
Sony's live-action adaptation of the action-adventure video game series has been in the works for quite some time now. The announcement was made back in 2009 to create a film adaptation of Naughty Dog's game series. At least now, they are one step into completing the project.
Just last year, Carnahan said that "Uncharted" movie is the "anti-Indiana Jones," stirring up a bit of discussion, as reported by GameSpot. The report furthered that Carnahan showed his current draft to game director Neil Druckmann. However, the latter denied having laid eyes on the said draft.
According to Polygon, Sony and producers Avi and Ari Arad had gone through at least 3 supposed directors. And then finally, Shawn Levy has been brought on board to direct the film. We all know him to have directed "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb."
The film's release date has not yet been confirmed but they intend to finish filming this year. Among the possible actors to be casted for the film include Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, Mark Wahlbers, Amy Adams, and Scarlett Johansson.
"Uncharted" follows that adventures of treasure hunter Nathan Drake who believes he knows where to find El Dorado. There have been four published games since the game "Uncharted" debuted in 2008.
