"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale cast could include a willing Nina Dobrev to return as Elena Gilbert, but her TVD reunion with Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) has problems elsewhere. Although in the past the difficulty seems to be on a busy Nina Dobrev's end, could the issue be out of her hands? It would certainly seem so if recent interview with the "Flatliners" star is basis.
According to Digital Spy, Nina Dobrev redirected questions about her presence in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale suggesting consultating the show's producers rather than her. The media outlet cites earlier conversation with Julie Plec where the TVD executive producer revealed willingness by Nina Dobrev to return for the series finale. Julie Plec, however, qualified that issues of logistics may get in the way.
Could a no-show at the "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale really be an issue on the side of Nina Dobrev or could the issue be on the side of The CW production? Digital Spy reports that Julie Plec promised to at least have a cameo from Nina Dobrev in Season 8. In which case the TVD executive producer will have to resort to Pan B and deliver a series ender that does not bring Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore for one last goodbye.
As far as co-star Ian Somerhalder is concerned, Variety reports that the TVD lead and producer has no idea what the Season 8 finale will look like. According to Ian Somerhalder, he has not been clued in on whether or not Nina Dobrev will actually be brought in as the series ends. Ian Somerhalder interestingly supports the idea of Nina Dobrev awakening Elena Gilbert to a world where Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvartore no longer exists. Ian Somerhalder calls this his pro-human stance.
The CW will return for the second half of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 with Episode 8 on Jan 13, 2017. Midseason finale, Episode 7 saw Stefan and Damon Salvatore switching places and the former becoming the evil brother. Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) being vulnerable to Sybil's tuning fork is also worrying and threatens to explode into a strange twist when TVD returns.
